Voters Service

What is Voters Service?
Voters Service is the name League gives to its nonpartisan voter education activities that help people gain access to government and the political process.

Immediately preceding elections, Leagues organize voter registration drives; publish and distribute registration and voting information; sponsor candidates meetings, debates and interviews; prepare voters guides with information about candidates and ballot issues; and conduct get-out-the-vote campaigns.
During the rest of the year, Leagues focus on the between-elections service, called Citizen Education.

Nonpartisanship
The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan volunteer organization working to promote political responsibility through informed and active participation of citizens in government.

The league does not support or oppose any political party or candidate. It does support or oppose legislation after study and consensus agreement among its members.

The fact that the League as an organization does not support or oppose political parties or candidates is a familiar principle of all League activity, but it is of particular importance to the voters service portfolio.
