Braintree Area
The purpose of the League of Women Voters of the Braintree Area is to promote political responsibility through informed and active participation of citizens in government and to act on selected governmental issues.
The League shall not support or oppose any political party or any candidate. Any person who subscribes to the purpose and policy of the League shall be eligible for membership. Voting members shall be citizens 18 years of age.
Membership is not limited to residents of the Town of Braintree. We welcome members from other communities. You may apply for membership in the League by clicking the 'Join Us' link on the left sidebar.
Programs
Recycling, Voter Service, Observer Corps, Land Preservation (i.e., CPA), Good Government (i.e., Monitor warrant articles), encourage participation in Town Meeting, Monitor Town Government Study Committee.
State Programs - State League
Health Care Study, Domestic Violence/Child Care, Gender Equity, Education Reform, Welfare Reform, Court reform, Gambling.
National Programs - National League
Making Democracy Work i.e. Promote ''Motor Voter'', Monitor Finance Reform Bills, Monitor legislation re: change in choosing electors, Gun Control.
