Voter's FAQ: Questions to the 9th Congressional District Candidates

The Braintree Area League of Women Voters joined with the 8 other local Leagues in the 9th Congressional District in sending three questions to each of the candidates, giving them a limit of 100 words per question. Below you will find their responses. The LWV encourages each of you to visit the websites of the candidates in order to make your vote on September 19th an informed one.
The LWV is a non-partisan, political organization that never supports or opposes a candidate or political party and encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government.
The questions posed to the candidates:
What do you see as the next step in our country’s involvement in Iraq and what would be your role as our Congressperson?
What is your position on U.S. Immigration policies and undocumented workers?
What steps would you take as a Congressperson to improve job and economic development in our district?
Hazardous Waste Collection Day

HAZARDOUS WASTE DAY COLLECTION

The Braintree recycling Committee will hold a Household Hazardous Waste Collection on Saturday, Sep 9th, 2006, 9 AM-1 PM, at the Ivory Street Recycling Center. Watch for more information in the local newspaper and on Community TV. For questions about what is acceptable to bring or fees, please call the Recycling Hotline at 781-794-8237.
The League of Women Voters will be collecting Tires and Batteries at the event for a small additional fee, as a fundraiser.
Marie Horgan has been doing planning, but Adele Barcelo and Jeanne Giagrande, among others, will be present on the day. Volunteers Needed.
Thayer Walk-A-Thon
Submitted by admin on 2006, May 8 - 12:02am.The Friends of Thayer Public Library announced they will hold a town-wide Walk-A-Thon called "Discover Braintree" to benefit the Library's Development Fund.
"Discover Braintree" Walk-A-Thon Registration will start at 10:30 am Sunday, May 21st at Town Hall Parking Lot. The sites will be chosen and staffed by members of the Friends and other volunteers. The various sites will be staffed from 11am to 2pm and will be followed by a Free Jazz Concert at the Thayer Public Library at 3pm.
The League of Women Voters is non-partisan.

This is a very important notice. The League does not take sides, we encourage and facilitate debate and involve the public as much as possible in the voting process; but the League is a non-partisan organisation.
